  • Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible Research Associate to join the T-Cell Receptor Discovery team at our Cambridge site in the UK.

The successful candidate will have experience with standard molecular biology techniques, and knowledge of modern cloning and molecular biology techniques, such as golden-gate cloning and Gibson assembly. In addition, you will have a keen eye for detail and an aptitude for organizing work flows and data management. You will work within a small team, and be responsible for coordinating molecular biology work flows with other people in the team to ensure smooth running of experiments and data collection.

The successful candidate is expected to work independently to design, execute, and interpret experiments. These experiments will contribute to the team's effort to create more potent immunotherapies, with emphasis on cell therapies. The candidate is expected to be a visible and vital member of a highly collaborative research environment within Agenus and with our internal and external partners.  The candidate will have strong supervisory expertise and contribute to program development and prioritization.

AgenTus Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company, and subsidiary of Agenus Inc, focusing on the discovery, development, and commercialization of breakthrough “living drugs” to advance cures for cancer patients. AgenTus employs naturally-derived and engineered receptors, specifically T Cell Receptors (TCRs) and Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs), designed to supercharge human immune effector cells to seek and destroy cancer. AgenTus will also aim to advance adoptive cell therapy formats which would enable off-the-shelf living drugs.

    • Careful planning and executing experiments in organized manner and within the agreed timeframe.
    • Coordinating and executing mini and maxi DNA preparations required for further experiments of the team.
    • Organizing and constantly updating the database with newly generated expression vectors.
    • Providing data summaries for technical protocols, laboratory protocols, and presentations.

PhD or MS degree in biology or biotechnology with relevant laboratory experience is required. The candidate is expected to have a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in molecular biology. Knowledge of immunology or cancer biology would be advantageous but not required.

    • PCR, mini and maxi DNA preparation (kits, automation), Cloning, Database organization.
    • Confidence with Microsoft Office and database recording. Experience with software for DNA sequence analysis (e.g. Geneous, Snapgene) would be a benefit.
    • Experience in working with RNA, and cDNA library preparation would be advantageous
    • Exposure to and affinity with advanced molecular Biology techniques, such as Golden-gate cloning and Gibson Assembly, is beneficial.
