  • Overview

We are seeking a highly talented, innovative, and motivated Scientist to join our Pre-clinical Research Group in  AgenTus Therapeutics. The selected candidate will work as part of an integrated research team focused on discovering and validating novel immunotherapeutics.

The successful candidate is expected to work independently to design, execute, and interpret experiments. These experiments will contribute to the team's effort to create more potent immunotherapies, with emphasis on cell therapies. The candidate is expected to be a visible and vital member of a highly collaborative research environment within Agenus and with our internal and external partners.  The candidate will have strong supervisory expertise and contribute to program development and prioritization.

AgenTus Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company, and subsidiary of Agenus Inc, focusing on the discovery, development, and commercialization of breakthrough “living drugs” to advance cures for cancer patients. AgenTus employs naturally-derived and engineered receptors, specifically T Cell Receptors (TCRs) and Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs), designed to supercharge human immune effector cells to seek and destroy cancer. AgenTus will also aim to advance adoptive cell therapy formats which would enable off-the-shelf living drugs.

    Responsibilities

The incumbent will be expected to design, execute and analyze complex studies and provide leadership within the program. Primary responsibility will involve expansion and characterization of primary human T cells directed against neo-antigens.  The incumbent will also be responsible for delivering immunobiology guidance to the cell therapy Discovery Group and assist in assay development and platform support. This will require broad knowledge of current concepts in cancer immunology and associated areas. The individual will present research findings to the cell therapy group and share expertise with other scientists and must be willing to travel to our site based in Boston, USA.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and train Research Associate(s).
    • Use strong communication skills to interact with other Agenus scientists and external collaborators.
    • Read and analyze current scientific literature and integrate knowledge to propose new approaches and areas of study.
    • Provide critical guidance for platform evaluation and prioritization of potential targets.
    • Contribute to intellectual property submissions.
    • Serve as Biology Lead for pre-clinical and translational discovery projects.
    • Complete internal compliance forms.
    • Submit data into digital archive (ELN format) shared within research group.

    Qualifications

    • PhD, MD or equivalent with strong research background in immunology, preferably tumor immunology.

    Experience

    • Significant post-doctoral research experience with evidence of success, including strong publication record, and experience presenting data at national and international conferences.
    • Proven expertise to independently initiate and drive research projects must be evident.
    • Technical skills to include:

    • Expansion of peptide-specific T cells from diverse sources.
    • T cell function assays that validate TcR biology
    • Strong expertise in flow cytometry (>5 color) and cell-based assays
    • Functional analyses of T cells using multi-parametric analysis
