    As part of an expanding Protein Sciences Group at our Cambridge, UK site, we are looking to employ an enthusiastic and dedicated Protein Purification Scientist / Protein Biochemist. Our team has a broad remit with exciting exposure to innovative technologies, impactful therapeutic projects and experts on site.


    We are recruiting into our DSP (Downstream Processing) team that supports all aspects of antigen and mAb purification from mammalian cell culture. The successful candidate will work as part of a small team on various volumes and numbers of samples using cutting edge purification systems, as well as closely interact with other teams and departments to ensure a seamless transfer of material and data.

    • Independently purify proteins at various scales (mL to liters) using Aekta systems.
    • Apply affinity and ion-exchange chromatography confidently.
    • Develop and establish methods for the purification of new proteins and mAb formats.
    • Evaluate new technologies, procedures, and technical developments for their suitability to enhance Agenus’ capabilities. This includes automation of appropriate processes.
    • Analyze and interpret data from own and colleagues’ work to project teams.
    • Align efforts with expression and analytics teams and enable seamless hand-over.
    • Communicate clearly and confidently to small teams of experts as well as larger audiences.
    • Have a flexible approach to changing demands by assisting colleagues during peak activities.


    • PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related discipline. PostDoctoral experience beneficial, but not essential.
    • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively work with scientists of different disciplines and teams.
    • Proven experience of protein purification using a variety of techniques and at different scales.
    • Demonstrated ability of data analysis and interpretation.
    • Confident documentation of results and communication to an expert audience.
    • Some experience with protein analysis (SDS-PAGE, SEC-HPLC) & automation (liquid handler)
