    For our expanding team in Cambridge, UK, we are looking for a flexible team player to support our protein sciences and molecular biology teams with basic and regular laboratory tasks including DNA preparations and basic protein QC experimentation.

    Responsibilities

    • Transform bacterial cultures with DNA plasmids, grow and harvest cultures by centrifugation.
    • Regular Plasmid DNA preparation from bacterial culture using standard and robust methodology. Those plasmid constructs will be used for protein expression.
    • Meticulous work ethics and attention to detail following protocols after initial training.
    • Clear and concise communication with the protein sciences team to ensure seamless hand-over of material as well as escalation of issues.
    • Submit DNA samples for sequencing to external provider. Manage interaction and sample shipment as well as receive electronic results for dissemination amongst protein science team.
    • Perform standard QC on DNA preparation in accordance to strict acceptance criteria.
    • Timely and appropriate documentation of experiments in order to inform colleagues and peers of quality of produced material.
    • As and when schedule permits, assist protein purification team with basic protein QC techniques. Again, training will be provided.

    Qualifications

    Previous experience is desirable, but training will be provided as necessary

    Essential

    • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a dynamic team
    • Some experience of working in a life science laboratory (support function).
    • Clean and organized working attitude in and outside of the laboratory.
    • Must have computer knowledge: excel, word and outlook

     

    Desirable

    • Some basic knowledge of DNA preparation and/or biochemical assays.
